BB's First Blog

Updated: Jun 23, 2024

What a busy first few months we have had! I would like to thank everyone so much who joined us on our official launch day in April. What a beautiful, wholesome day we all had. We all learnt so much from our amazing speakers- we covered a range of subjects, with both theory and practical sessions. Together we discussed: Head Trauma, Feeding tubes and nutrition, CPR, Wellbeing, Capnography, Hypotension and Hypothermia.

The AMAZING team from Summit Veterinary Specials kindly sponsored the event and joined us for the day- I could not have asked for a better team beside me- Summit sell medications that are otherwise very tricky to administer to your patients- offering liquid versions and smaller tablets- be sure to check them out!

Hayleigh Robbins, Emily Hooper, Aurora Zoff were amazing speakers and thank you so much to our delegates for making us all feel so comfortable with you all! Leanne Dean and Zoe Armstrong were THE best assistants one could ever dream of- welcoming everyone to the event, keeping us to time and manning our Burty’s Boutique stall!

Since our launch we have been very busy behind the scenes, finalising the website- please do let us know what you think! Adding items to our shop- remember we offer free delivery within the UK! We are also happy to ship worldwide- just get in touch so we can arrange shipping.

The particular highlight since our launch is speaking at the European dental Forum in Nantes- 700 delegates joined this conference- the largest crowd yet! I supplied some sessions for the nursing stream as we discussed the Anaesthesia care- from admit to discharge for our patients undergoing general anaesthesia for dentistry/oral surgeries- I met some truly amazing people- and the event was run superbly- big thank you to the EVDF for having me! If you are into Dentistry- come and join us at the EVDF in Oslo in 2025!

Just prior to our launch the British Veterinary Dental Association invited me to speak at their day conference in London- another amazing and supportive crowd- I had an absolute blast and again, had the luxury of meeting so many lovely human beings! I chatted for 30 minutes to the 160+ delegates about how to ensure we maintain a safe airway and avoid hypothermia during general anaesthesia for dental/oral surgery. Thank you BVDA for having me, I cannot wait to attend next year, I have no doubt that the itinerary will be epic.

Emily Meats (nee Hooper) Congratulations on your recent wedding! Provided us with an amazing webinar on Anaesthesia for the head trauma patient! Plus we had Rui Pinelas spend an evening discussing ECG Interpretation- Thank you both for giving us your time and unlimited knowledge!

So what is coming up for Burty’s Boutique?

Well, we will be adding lots of items to our Boutique shop, continuing our monthly webinars- the next being on 22nd July with Jodie Hughes- discussing Anaesthesia considerations for our patients with renal and kidney disease-which is available to sign up for now.

Burty’s Boutique is also a proud sponsor for Plumpton Colleges inaugural RVN CPD event, a full day for veterinary nurses to learn and socialise, the itinerary is jam packed- we would love to see lots of faces there on 6th July!

Our Webinar Library is currently being created and will be available soon, and our ECG poster guides will be printed in just a few weeks- these are available on pre order.

If you do not already have tickets then be sure to grab your place at our next face to face CPD event- Burty’s Boutique ‘Day of Anaesthesia’ where myself and Veterinary Anaesthesia Specialist Jodie Hughes will be discussing considerations for different patients- including brachycephalics, diabetics, cardiac patients and much more!

The day will give you:

6 hours of CPD, includes a goody bag, raffle tickets, notes, certificate, free parking and SO much food! Will we see you there? I hope so.

That is all for now, keep your eyes peeled for Julys blog!

Much love,

Stacey
