ISFM Cert (FN), NCert (Anaesth) and (Dent), NAdvCert (Anaesth), LVNP (Anaesthesia), Recover CPR Rescuer, MBVNA, RVN
My goal is to offer Relatable, Affordable, Stress- free Veterinary CPD to both Veterinary Nurses, Vets and students. I aim to offer a ‘boutique’ experience in a relaxed format, making it easy for you to return to practice with practical knowledge to help enhance your patient care!
My Story
I qualified as an RVN in Sussex in the UK in 2014, quickly realising my passion for Anaesthesia I enrolled and gained the NCert in Anaesthesia, followed by the NCert in Dentistry and most recently the Advanced NCert in Anaesthesia which awarded me the title of Lead Vet Nurse Practitioner in Anaesthesia, of which I am currently the only RVN in the UK to hold the accreditation.
I adore learning and in the last ten years I have completed the BVNA Oral Care Nurse Certificate, BSAVA Merit in Anaesthesia and Emergency Critical Care, and ISFM certificate in Feline Nursing and in February 2024 I qualified as a RECOVER CPR rescuer.
I work clinically with Rachel Perry, both a RCVS and European Veterinary Specialist in Dentistry at Perry Referrals where I get to spend my days performing anaesthesia alongside an amazing team of Specialist Anaesthetists within North Downs Specialist Referrals. I am privileged to work as part of such an inspiring team and learn something every single day. We also have the joy of being invited to work at several zoos and have supported their teams by providing dentistry to many patients including tigers, leopards, lemurs, otters and squirrel monkies.
I am fortunate to have been invited to lecture at numerous events around the globe, including BSAVA congress and BVDA in the UK, European Veterinary Dental Forum in Krakow and Nantes and American Veterinary Dental Forum in Reno, USA. I also work closely with multiple CPD providers of which I enjoy immensely.
I have been lucky enough to have had several articles published in veterinary journals and most recently co-authored a chapter in the new BSAVA ‘Advanced Veterinary Nursing’ textbook which will be released soon!
In my spare time- I enjoy exploring the world and finding cats in every place I visit! I adore all things Disney and reading as many books as possible whilst trying to keep active with yoga, swimming, climbing and beach strolls!
My passion for learning, and sharing that education has led me to launch Burty’s Boutique- and I cannot wait to meet so many of you whether that be via a webinar or a face to face event!
