About the event
Join us as we breakdown the ECG into manageable chunks and go through different traces that you may see- and what they mean!
During the session we will cover:
- How are ecgs generated
- What do the different squiggles mean
- What’s up with the different leads (I, II, III, aVF, aVR, aVL)
- Uses and limitations
- Interpretation based ecg reading vs pattern recognition
Afterwards there will be time for questions with our speaker.
The session will be recorded, so do not worry if you can not make the live event, all those with a ticket, will receive a link to watch the recording within 24 hours of the event finishing.

Rui Pinelas graduated from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal in 2003. After two years in general practice he joined the surgery service of the same university, where he developed a special interest in anaesthesia and analgesia.
In 2008, Rui started a three year residency in the same area at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), United Kingdom, where, in 2011, he also obtained his Masters in Veterinary Medicine. After a brief period back in UTAD and later the RVC, he initially became a part of the NDSR team in 2016. Following a brief stint in the north of England to enjoy the mountain air, Rui re-joined the NDSR anaesthesia team mid-2019.
Rui obtained his European Diploma in Anaesthesia and Analgesia in 2014 and became a RCVS recognised specialist in Anaesthesia in 2016. His main interests are regional analgesia and anaesthesia for cardiac procedures.
