About the event

Nursing the transfusion patient can be daunting, however the veterinary nurse can play a vital role in the transfusion process, from administering blood products to spotting signs of a transfusion reaction. Together, we will discuss the transfusion process, including:

  • Selection of a suitable donor
  • Laboratory testing
  • Blood products and when we might utilise them
  • Monitoring transfusions
  • Transfusion reactions

We will also work through a case study at the end of the presentation to summarise the lecture and apply the information to a real case.
